The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) authorities on Thursday paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, marking the Independence and National Day.
The BSMMU authorities paid respect at a mural of Bangabandhu set up on B-Block of the university, a BSMMU press release said.BSMMU vice chancellor Professor Kanak Kanti Barua, pro-vice chancellors Prof Dr Shahana Akhter Rahman and Prof Dr Muhammad Rafiqul Alam, treasurer Prof Dr Mohammad Atiqur Rahman, registrar Dr ABM Abdul Mannan and proctor Prof Dr Syed Mozaffar Ahmed were, among others, present.
They stood in solemn silence for one minute as a mark of profound respect to the memories of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Kanak Kanti Barua urged the BSMMU teachers, doctors, nurses and other officials to work sincerely and stand by patients aiming to help the government tackle the coronavirus situation in the country.
He said following the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO), steps have been taken to ensure the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all doctors and medical staff of the university amid the spread of coronavirus.
