A total of 13 people died — the highest number of deaths so far in the span of one day — and 706 tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.
DGHS did not reveal the number of deaths during their daily online briefing this afternoon but released the data later through a press release.
The total number of infections have now reached 12,425, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, during the briefing earlier in the day.
A total of 5,867 samples were tested in 34 labs across the country since yesterday, Dr Nasima added.
Meanwhile, 130 patients of Covid-19 have recovered around the country in the last 24 hours. The total recovery number stands at 1,910 now, the DGHS official said.
Dr Nasima also apologised for saying incorrect number of the total infected persons during yesterday’s briefing.
Total number of infected till yesterday was 11,719. But she said “99,646” by mistake, which was the total number of tests conducted till yesterday, the DGHS official revealed during today’s briefing.
