Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to pause training activities for three days after quite a few members of the support staff exhibited coronavirus-like symptoms.
Members of the Bangladesh national team have been undergoing individual training across BCB facilites since before Eid-ul-Azha.
It was learned that the sessions in Mirpur will be paused for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The BCB had already communicated that the individual training sessions were being held due to the players’ request. While the players are undergoing individual sessions, the BCB is yet to start group activities.
“We had decided that we will pause even if there were any signs of imminent danger. Quite a few people are showing symptoms so we will suspend activities for a few days,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed to The Daily Star regarding the suspension of individual practice.
“At the beginning the protocols for safety were being maintained but recently we’ve found precautions to be a bit lax with people getting into the ground, etc. We have to ensure that the team goes to Sri Lanka so we’re very careful,” he added.
BCB has been consulting with other cricket boards during the pandemic and Nizamuddin reiterated that even other boards have not found the situation to be easily manageable.
“We’re sharing with different boards. It’s not easy to follow the coronavirus protocols.”
