Dhaka University (DU) will conduct fundamental research on the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said Vice-Chancellor of the institution Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman.
Showing respect to the memories of Bangabandhu, the greatest Bangalee of all time, he said, “The DU has established Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Research Institute for Peace and Liberty in a bid to carry out fundamental research on life and works of Bangabandhu. The institute will be turned into an independent and non-conventional institution. The institute will play role in education and research not only nationally but also internationally.”
Prof Akhtaruzzaman urged the teachers and researchers of the institute to work relentlessly with the aim to fulfill dream of the Father of the Nation.
The DU VC expressed his opinion while inaugurating ‘Bangabndhu Lecture Series’ held on Monday virtually at Prof Abdul Matin Chowdhury virtual classroom, adjacent to the VC office.
Chairman of the Center for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Sciences (CARASS) of DU Prof Dr Atiur Rahman presided over the event while Bangladesh University Grants Commission Chairman Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah was the chief guest.
Director of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Research Institute for Peace and Liberty Prof Fakhrul Alam delivered his welcome speech.
Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, chief coordinator of the national implementation committee for celebration of Bangabandhu’s birth centenary and former principal secretary to the premier delivered his inaugural speech on the occasion.
