Total 2000 women entrepreneurs are going to receive taka 10 crores from ICT Division on the eve of Mujib Barsha. This fund will be disbursed among the women members of ‘Women in e-commerce group, Digital Skill and E-Cab’. State Minister for ICT Division, Zunaid Ahmed Palak declared the grant while addressing a webinar celebrating ‘International Womens’ Day’, titled ‘Women in Digital: Employment and Entrepreneurship’.
This fund will be distributed among the members and a member will receive the highest 50 thousand takas each without a trade license or pledge.
Opportunities have been made to create entrepreneurs both in urban and rural areas. Inspired by this scenario, a new initiative, Women in ICT Frontier (WIFI) has been taken through which 50 thousand women entrepreneurs are expected to be created in 43 districts, Said Palak.
Women’s participation in digital spaces may be increased through ensuring awareness at personal and familial levels, applying for technological benefits, strict enforcement of law and international understanding opines Palak.
As a special guest, N.M. Ziaul Alam, Secretary, ICT Division was present in the program and said, women’s interest in technology will be increased if their skill is developed.
Hosne Ara Begum, MD, Hi-tec park suggested giving incentives for creating women entrepreneurs, while MCCI President Nihad Kabir emphasised utilizing technology by girl students from school life.
Discrimination between men and women can be reduced by increased utilization of technology, opines Anir Chowdhury, Senior Policy Advisor, A2I.
Farhana A. Rahman, Senior Vice President, BASIS, Sonia Bashir Kabir, Founder, SBK Venture and SBK Foundation, Selina Parvez, Joint Project Director, A2I, Md. Abdul Mannan, Project Director, a2i, Dr. Bikorno Kumar Ghosh, Aditional Secretary, Planning and Development of ICT Division were present while Shami Kaisar, President, E-Cab anchored the program.
