Visit to India on travel visas is going to stop from Friday night as the Indian government has suspended all existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN, international organizations, employment, project visas, till April 15 next.
The Indian government has suspended issuance of all kinds of visas until April 15 next in the wake of coronavirus epidemic.
However, diplomatic, official, UN, international organizations, employment and project visas will remain out of the purview of the suspension.
The order will remain effective from 6pm on March 13 (Friday) to April 15 next. Besides, no new visas will be issued from March 13. Indian government has also suspended visa-free access facilities for Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders. The decision will come in effect from 6pm on March 13 at the ports of immigration.
Moreover, valid visas issued by the Indian High Commissions on March 12 and before will remain suspended, while no new visas will be issued by the Indian High Commission from March 13 to April 15.
If any foreign national wants to go to India on unavoidable reasons, he or she is requested to contact with ‘visahelp.dhaka@mea.gov.in.’ It was stated in a press release sent by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
Besides, any Indian citizen or foreign traveler coming from China, Italy, Iran, Korea, France, Spain and Germany or visited those countries after February 15 will require to stay in a 14-day quarantine. The decision will come into effect at all the immigration ports from 6pm on March 13.
The Indian citizens and travelers to India have been advised to avoid unnecessary travels. Anyone entering India may be kept in quarantine for 14 days.
The number of coronavirus infected cases stood 1,29,857 till Friday, while the death toll reached 4,751 worldwide. The number of coronavirus patients in India rose to 74.
