Bangladesh clinched their maiden ODI series win over Sri Lanka after beating the tourist by 103 runs in the second match of the ongoing three-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.
Mushfiqur Rahim hit a gritty 125 to lift Bangladesh to 246 after the host lost early wickets in the rain-hit match. Mahmdullah Riyad scored the second highest run of 41, before they were bowled out in 48.1 overs in Dhaka.
Sri Lanka scored 141 for 9 in their stipulated 40 overs in D/L method as rain halted play due to rain.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan and the debutant Shoriful Islam took three, three, two and one wickets respectively.
First time that Bangladesh have beaten Sri Lanka in a bilateral series across formats. Since the 2015 World Cup, Bangladesh have won 10 out of 11 bilateral ODI series they played at home and only lost to England in 2016. Those 10 series victories include their maiden series win in any format against Pakistan, India, South Africa and Sri Lanka.
