The Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC) has given policy approval to the human trial of ‘Bangavax’- a corona vaccine invented in the country. Globe Biotech, the inventor and manufacturer of the vaccine, was given conditional approval by the BMRC on Wednesday (June 16) at noon.
BMRC Director Prof. Dr. Ruhul Amin said that if the mistakes are corrected and if the conditions are met, full approval will be given.
It is learned that with the permission of BMRC, a trial of this vaccine will be conducted on hundreds of people very soon. According to sources, it is expected to be applied to volunteers for a trial at a private hospital in the capital within seven to ten days of approval.
Earlier, Globe Biotech published a research paper in the US Medical Journal saying that Bangavax is effective in animals. The company was then awaiting BMRC approval for the human body trial. The last institution was given conditional approval.
According to the US medical journal Vaccine, Bangavax is the world’s first effective single-dose vaccine made using mRNA technology that successfully protects human cells and animals against the SARS-COV-2 virus. After the publication of this research paper, the vaccine of the local company Globe Biotech came up for discussion again.
As part of a clinical trial, the administration of the drug was allowed to produce the vaccine on December 28 last year. A letter was sent to BMRC on February 17 this year seeking that approval.
