A draft law has been tabled in Parliament to set up an agricultural university in Kurigram to keep pace with the world in the field of agricultural science and technology and to create opportunities for higher education and research in the country.
On Monday, Education Minister Dipu Moni raised the ‘Kurigram Agricultural University Bill-2021’ in Parliament. The bill was later examined and sent to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Education for a report to Parliament within a month.
To transform the country into a developed one within the stipulated time by creating new entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector at home and abroad, expanding employment and expanding employment through the business incubator of this university for the advancement of education, research, training and expansion activities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in various fields of higher education, the proposed university will be set up.
The Education Minister thinks that it is very necessary and reasonable to set up Kurigram Agricultural University for this purpose.
The bill stipulates that the Chancellor of the University shall appoint an agronomist or a distinguished professor of agriculture engaged in agricultural education and research as the Vice-Chancellor for a term of four years under the terms prescribed by the President. No person shall be appointed as Vice-Chancellor for more than two terms.
