Bangladesh on Monday witnessed 164 coronavirus or Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
This is the highest-ever deaths since the pandemic began in the country in March last year.
A press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the latest Covid-19 situation of the country on Monday.
The number of Covid-19 deaths in Bangladesh has reached 15,229 while the death rate stands at 1.59 percent.
In the last 24 hours, some 9,964 new infections were registered. As of today, the country saw 954,881infections.
The highest number of Covid-19 infections was recorded today in the country.
The current positivity rate is 29.30 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.13 percent.
Some 34,002 samples were tested in the country in the last 24 hours.
At least 5,185 people have recovered from the virus during the period.
Till date, a total of 839,082 people have recovered from the fatal disease.
The press release also stated that out of 164 people who died in the last 24 hours, 55 were from Khulna, 40 from Dhaka, 18 from Chattogram, 16 from Rajshahi, nine from Barishal, eight from Sylhet, 16 from Rangpur and two from Mymensingh.
