Ninety-eight percent people have contracted delta variant in the country while the remaining two percent are the South African variant (B.1.351) and the Nigerian variant (B.1.525).
In a press release, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Sharfuddin Ahmed disclosed the information on Thursday.
The variant, also known as B.1.617.2, has spread fast, causing havoc on the country’s economy like elsewhere in the world.
Earlier, the Alpha or the UK variant was dominant in December 2020 and Beta or the South African variant extracted the most toll in March 2021.
