Bangladesh has registered 145 new deaths from COVID-19, the lowest daily count since Jul 4, taking the total toll to 25,023.
The COVID-19 caseload surged to 1,453,203 after 5,993 people tested positive for the disease in the 24 hours to 8 am on Friday, according to the latest government data.
Nationwide, another 10,574 people recovered from the illness, bringing the total number of recoveries to 13,47,755. The latest figures put the recovery rate at 92.74 percent and the mortality rate at 1.72 percent.
The single-day test positivity rate dropped further to 17.18%, with as many as 34,892 samples tested during the time. The overall positivity rate stands at 16.91 percent.
Among the 145 deceased, 77 were men and 68 were women.
Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, five were within 21-30, nine between 31-40, 14 between 41-50, 19 between 51-60, 52 between 61-70, 28 between 71-80, 11 between 81-90, and six between 91-100 years old, added the release.
