Five more people have been tested positive in Bangladesh for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 44.
However, four more patients have recovered from the disease. With this, a total of 11 people have already made recovery from the coronavirus.Director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora announced this information at a press briefing at IEDCR in Mohakhali on Thursday.
“IEDCR tested 126 samples in the last 24 hours … it tested samples of 920 people so far. The total number of infected people is now 44 as five more people have been diagnosed with the disease. All the infected people are male. Among them, one is imported cases and three have come in contact with a previously-infected patient,” she said.
IEDCR is yet to indentify the details of another infected patient, she added.
However, no death from coronaviurs was reported in the last 24 hours in the country, it added.
Bangladesh has so far reported five deaths from coronavrius.Meanwhile, the global death toll from the coronavirus has leapt to 21,283 globally as of Thursday.
It has so far infected 471,053 people around the world, according to worldometer.
Of them, 335,534 are currently being treated with 14,972 being in serious or critical condition.
So far, 135,501 cases had outcomes and of them, 114,218 (84 percent) recovered and 16 percent died.
