A divisional taskforce — comprising army officials and civilians — to fight the Covid-19 outbreak has decided to use the intensive care unit (ICU) of the private Parkview Hospital in Chattogram city to treat coronavirus infected patients.
The government issued a gazette asking the hospital authority to be prepared to offer the ICU service in this regard from today.
The taskforce selected the facility after visiting the hospital which has 10 ICU beds and six ventilators.
Hasan Shahriar Kabir, director of Chattogram divisional health office, told The Daily Star that the taskforce decided to use the existing facilities to treat possible coronavirus infected patients, adding that Parkview Hospital was perfect for the purpose.
The taskforce is also considering to utilise the ICU services of two more private hospitals, he added.
