The government has formed a 17-member high-level committee headed by the Commerce Ministry’s Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh to control the commodity price.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will serve his duty as an advisor of the committee.
The Commerce Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday.
The other members of the committee are the chairman of the National Board of Revenue, senior secretary to the public safety division of the Home Ministry, secretaries to the ministries of Agriculture, Food, Industries and Information and Broadcasting, Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission chairman, Bangladesh Competition Commission chairman, Commerce Ministry’s Additional Secretary, DGFI Director General, NSI Director General, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh chairman, FBCCI chairman and Joint Secretary (IIT-2) of the Commerce Ministry.
The committee will observe the market situation of the basic commodities and recommend the government measures to reduce the prices of essential commodities in the domestic markets.
