A physician of Savar Upazila Health Complex has tested positive for coronavirus, the civil surgeon of Dhaka said today.
While talking to our Savar correspondent over phone, Civil Surgeon Dr Abu Hussain Moinul Ahsan said they received the test report from IEDCR last evening, a day after the doctor’s samples were sent there.
He was admitted to Kuwait-Bangladesh Maitree Hospital last night, he said.
The doctor was on duty at the emergency unit of the hospital until he received the test report last evening, Abu Hussain said, adding that it is the first case of coronavirus in Savar upazila.
The hospital’s emergency room was closed and the entire set-up was shifted to another room, he said.
Besides, some doctors, nurses and staffers, who had come in contact with the infected doctor, were sent to isolation, he added. He, however, did not mention the number of the hospital staffers who went in isolation.
Savar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Saimul Huda, in a Facebook post, said, he along with 40 officers and staffers of the hospital should go to compulsory isolation.
