A legal notice has been sent to the tea garden owners and the government seeking that the daily wage of the tea workers be at least Tk 500.
The notice asked them to take steps in this regard within the next seven days. Otherwise, a writ petition will be filed with the High Court seeking its direction to get legal remedy about this, according to the notice.
On behalf of Supreme Court lawyer Anisur Rahman, lawyer Chanchal Kumar Bishwas sent the notice on Monday.
Advocate Anisur Rahman confirmed the matter to Jago News.
“In modern society, people need at least Tk 500 to meet basic needs. That is why we demanded at least Tk 500 daily wage of the tea workers to lead life,” he said.
The tea garden workers across the country went on work abstention from August 9 demanding an increase in their daily wages up to Tk 300 from 120.
They withdrew their movement on Saturday after their daily wage had been raised by Tk 25 to 145.
But on the following day, most of the laborers again started agitation seeking a rise up to Tk 300.
