A total of 1,29,025 students, including 60,989 girls, are going to appear in the examinations of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) under the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Rajshahi this year scheduled to be held from November 6.
The students from 752 institutions in all eight districts will take part in the examinations in 201 centres.
In 2021, a total of 1,50,745 students, including 71,228 girls, appeared in the HSC examinations under the board.
Controller of Examinations Prof Ariful Islam said the number of registered students in HSC first year was 1,55,168 and 1,24,909 of them filled-up forms for HSC exams this year. But, 30,259 students, including 17,715 girls, didn’t fill-up forms and they are being counted as dropout students.
Expressing his grave concern over the huge dropout Board Chairman Prof Habibur Rahman said they will find out the real cause through investigation.
“We will give direction to the colleges for unearthing the reasons,” he added.
