Twelve meritorious students of the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Applied Mathematics of Dhaka University (DU) have been given ‘AF Mujibur Rahman Gold Medal’ for their outstanding academic results in BS (Hons.) and MS examinations. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal distributed the Gold Medal among the students as chief guest at a function held today (05 February) at AF Mujibur Rahman Ganit Bhaban auditorium.
Chairman of the Department of Applied Mathematics Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ferdous presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Treasurer Prof. Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Md. Abdus Samad and Trustee of the AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation Prof. Dr. Perween Hasan addressed it as special guests. Chairman of the Department of Mathematics Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam delivered welcome speech at the function.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal congratulated the meritorious students for getting Gold Medal and urged them to utilize their knowledge for welfare of the human beings and socio-economic development of the country. He said, Mathematic is essential in every sphere of our life. He called upon the students to play an effective role to make smart Bangladesh.
The recipients of AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation Gold Medal are Kazi Hafizur Rahman, Najifatun Naher, Ayantika Ghosh, Shobha Islam, Kazi Mehedi Mohammad, Md. Islamul Alam, Trishna Datta, Sadia Anjum Jumana, Md. Anower Hossain, Apurbo Roy Chowdhury, Trishna Datta (MS) and Lamisa Kibria Keka.
